Das 2018 erstmals stattfindende Alumni.Tanz.Berlin-Festival setzt, wie schon das mittlerweile in sein 11. Jahr startende „S.o.S. – Students on Stage“-Festival, den Ruf nach einem Zusammenkommen
von Akteur*innen aller Berliner Ausbildungsstätten fort. „S.o.S.” hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, mit den studentischen Arbeiten eine möglichst große Bandbreite von Ästhetiken und Arbeitsweisen im
zeitgenössischen Tanz sichtbar zu machen. Augenfällig ist jedoch, dass diese Diversität mit dem Übergang der Graduierten in die freie Berliner Tanzszene verloren geht.
Das Alumni.Tanz.Berlin-Festival 2018 richtet sich daher erstmals gezielt an Absolvent*innen aller Berliner Ausbildungsinstitutionen für zeitgenössischen Tanz. Die eingeladenen Künstler*innen
finden die Möglichkeit, unter einer Mentor*innenschaft und dramaturgischer Begleitung eine (erste) eigene Produktion zu erarbeiten und zu präsentieren. Das Festival bietet, neben einem kleinen
Produktionsbudget, Raum für Unfertiges und Ausprobiertes, für erste kleine und große Schritte in der freien Berliner Tanzlandschaft kurz nach der Ausbildung.

The Alumni.Tanz.Berlin Festival will be held for the first time in 2018. Like the S.o.S. -Students on Stage Festival, its interest lies in the coming together of
the central players in Berlin’s dance education programs—their students. Now in its 11th year, S.o.S. had set itself the goal of creating a visibility for student work, while attempting to
display the widest possible range of aesthetics and artistic methods that exist in the field of contemporary dance. It is obvious, however, that this diversity is lost with the transition of
recent graduates into the independent dance scene of Berlin.
Looking to bridge this gap, the Alumni.Tanz.Berlin Festival 2018 specifically identifies the recent graduates of all Berlin contemporary dance educational
institutions as its invitation pool. The invited artists are offered the opportunity to develop and present a (first) production with the support of a mentor and dramaturgical counsel. The
festival then makes available to the artists, in addition to a small production budget, a platform for both their unfinished and their tested – a guide to the first small away from school and
large steps into the independent dance scene in Berlin.

Das Festival „S.o.S. – Students on Stage” arbeitet seit 2015 kontinuierlich an der Vernetzung und gegenseitigen Inspiration von Studierenden aller Berliner Ausbildungsstätten für zeitgenössischen
Tanz.
Als etablierte Größe im ada Studio setzt S.o.S. auf Kompliz*innenschaft. Das im Herbst 2017 gegründete Alumni.Tanz.Berlin-Netzwerk (www.alumnitanzberlin.wordpress.com) ist ein Resultat der Vernetzungsarbeit der letzten Jahre.
Auf der Bühne sendet „S.o.S.” weiterhin den Ruf nach Diversität der Ästhetiken und Ausbildungsschwerpunkte. Was verbindet uns und wie können wir unser Verständnis vom „Zeitgenössischen“
formulieren? „S.o.S.” steht für Austausch und Experiment. Es lädt Zuschauer*innen wie Teilnehmer*innen zur Verkehrung von Sehgewohnheiten und Vorlieben ein. Auch in diesem Jahr findet neben den
künstlerischen Beiträgen ein begleitendes Rahmenprogramm zu Förderstrukturen, Feedback und Produktionsweisen für die S.o.S.-Künstler*innen statt.

Since 2015, the festival “S.o.S. – Students on Stage” continues to operate as a space of mutual inspiration and networking between the students of all the schools for contemporary dance in Berlin.
The Alumni.Tanz.Berlin network (www.alumnitanzberlin.wordpress.com), which was founded in Fall 2017, is one result of the networking that took place over the last few years.
As a long-standing event hosted in the ada Studio, “S.o.S.” is rooted in complicity. On stage, “S.o.S.” continues to make visible and thereby support the
diversity of aesthetics and educational focuses currently existing.
What connects us and how can we formulate our understanding of the “contemporary”? “S.o.S.” answers with exchange and experimentation. It invites spectators as
well as the invited artists to disrupt their preferred aesthetics and viewing habits. This year, in addition to the artistic contributions, there will be an accompanying program for the S.o.S.
artists focused on the topics of funding structures, feedback, and production methods.
